The Neighbourgoods Market, Woodstock

January 1, 2015

In my humble opinion, Saturday mornings are for brunching. If you happen to be in the vicinity of Woodstock in Cape Town on a Saturday morning between 9am - 2pm, I strongly recommend you pop along to the Neighbourgoods Market at The Old Biscuit Mill.

There is such a variety of food to choose from its advisable to get there as early as possible so you can justify at least two sittings. Follow your nose up and down the stalls until you've decided where to start, then pull up a bench at one of the trestle tables and read the paper (or make friends with the person sitting next to you).

Very often there is live music to entertain the crowds and after you're done eating your way through the food tent (and stocking up on cakes to take away for later), there are just as many stalls and boutiques full of local artisan crafts, clothes, flowers and souvenirs. I haven't been to it yet but there is now a Neighbourgoods Market in Johannesburg too.
